Remembering Sedar Soares
One year ago, February 1st 2003, the thirteen year old Cape Verdean boy Sedar Soares was shot at the Slinge metro station in Rotterdam, Netherlands. He died one day later. The gunman was never found. Today, sunday February 1st 2004, a church service was held at the St. Bavo Church in Rotterdam commemorating Sedar Soares. At the Slinge metro station a remembrance plate was disclosed. At the church service, Suzanna performed a new song, specially written for this sad occasion. The song ‘Silencio’ was written by Suzanna with the help of Beto Dias and was sung in both the Cape Verdean and Dutch language. Kiki Gomes accompanied Suzanna on guitar.
